Orchestra has had a makeover this year with the realignment of the schools.  There are many changes, which will be quite beneficial to the growth of the orchestra.   

Change #1- The first obvious change will be that we have MUCH LARGER ensembles.  There will be many students playing the same instrument as you so you will never feel alone!

Change #2- 4th graders will have orchestra 1 time per cycle for 40 minutes while the 5th and 6th graders will have orchestra 2 times per cycle for 40 minutes at the end of the school day.  

Change #3-  This is the biggest most exciting change of all!  Students will have one, 30 minute pull-out lesson per cycle.  Students will be in small groups of 5-8 students, all on the same instrument.  Students will be able to progress much faster than in the former setting of 40 students on all of the orchestra instruments vs. one teacher.   Much time has been taken to schedule these lessons so that students do no miss instructional time where they are lacking proficiency.

Shortly after school begins, an Orchestra Handbook with many more details of the changes this year will be distributed.  In the meantime please be sure that your orchestra student has the following items ready for our first rehearsal. (Date and time to be announced soon!)

-sponge or shoulder rest

-Rosin

-name tag with your name, classroom teacher AND Phone Number

-Essential Elements 2000 Book 1 (at some point in the year, 6th graders will need Book 2)
